GEOList Summary: Tax Status Verification
We seek to validate an organization’s tax status when they apply for a grant. Traditionally we have used Guidestar.com but have discovered many discrepancies between the listed information, such as mailing address, and what is supplied to us in the application. Is there a better way to verify a EIN number and corresponding organization information? - How do you verify the EIN number of applicants? - Is one verification source more esteemed than another (ie. guidestar, charity navigator)? - Do you ask applicants to verify their information on one of these third-party sites? If so, please share the language used in your application.
