GEOList Summary: Support for Capital Campaigns
Another ongoing question here at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation is how to best plan for and respond to big capital campaigns, particularly in geographic areas where the Foundation has a legacy of participation. For our purposes, capital campaigns include requests funding for buildings and for land acquisition for conservation, typically for amounts over $250,000. If your foundation provides funding for capital (buildings and/or land conservation), - What kinds of processes do you use to plan for and respond to these kinds of campaigns? How are decisions made about allocating funds? - Do you deal with these kinds of requests inside of your regular guidelines and budgets, or do you have a fund set aside specifically for these kinds of purposes?
