GEOList Summary: Successful Executive Director Transitions
We have had a number of grantee and partner organizations undergo Executive Director transitions in the last year and several had rocky experiences. We’d love your thoughts about best practices or experience relative to the role of the funder during these transitions. While funding decisions are a component of this, we’re also interested in your experiences more broadly. Specifically, what actions (if any) has your foundation taken to: - Support interim executive directors - Support the board in the search and selection process - Support new executive directors in getting up to speed - Support the board in evaluating the fit of new executive directors In addition, how have you approached new/renewed general operating grants during times of transition?
