GEOList Summary: Special Wording for Grant Agreements for Grants Given to Government Entities
We have a grantmaking member who is considering making a grant to a tribal nation. According the IRS it seems that tribal nations are considered “states” for the purposes of charitable donations/grants – making them tax deductible. The grantmaker is hoping to find out if anyone has examples of wording that they use or a process that they use with a state grantee/entity, that is different than their usual grant agreements with a typical 501(c)(3).
