GEOList Summary: Letters of Intent vs. Complete Application
Here in Erie, we are discussing the possibility of modifiying our grant application process. Currently, there are four funding cycles (Quality of Life, Health, Education and Human Services). Organizaitons complete an application and the Board of Trustees determines who gets funded. Recently, we discussed possibly requesting a letter of intent instead of full blown applications from all interested organizations. Eventually, only a select few would be invited to complete applications. Are there any other Foundations that utilize the "letter of intent/inquiry" as a screening tool? What are the prons and cons?
