GEOList Summary: Helping Nonprofits Through Tough Times
We are currently putting together a session for our 2009 Annual Conference about how foundations are helping their nonprofit partners through tough economic times. We are considering the following questions and would love to hear from folks about how they are thinking about these questions or doing work in these areas. 1. What kinds of programs are foundations funding that help nonprofits deal with the effects of the economic downturn on their communities (e.g., affordable housing, economic development, etc)? 2. How are foundations funding nonprofits to make them more durable, sustainable, or financially savvy organizations, so that they can survive/thrive with more limited economic resources? 3. What resources or intermediaries should we know about that are working in this area? Thank you in advance for any ideas or information you have to offer.
