GEOList Summary: Grantees on Foundation Boards
When a foundation has grantees on its board, what specific policies do foundations employ to ensure that conflicts of interest in direct and indirect ways are taken into consideration? Also, specifically, when grantees or board members of grantees are on the foundation’s board, are they required to excuse themselves from the discussion AND the vote – should they be on the program committee? Anything related to specific policies and strategies to ensure responsible grantmaking in this regard would be helpful.
