GEOList Summary: General Operating Support
We are a place-focused funder that is the largest foundation in our city. We have traditionally provided organizations with project-specific/fixed-term funding; however, we are changing our guidelines to allow requests for general operating support. Our Board is concerned we may become overwhelmed by the demand for core support, and that we don’t have an exit strategy for when these grants end. Does anyone have sample ‘guidelines language’ that sets criteria for who may request general operating support and for how long this support may last?
