GEOList Summary: Fiscal Cliff and Budget Cuts
The RMHF Board has established a pool of funds designated to help our grantees deal with fiscal issues and/or reduction of program services as a result of the looming fiscal cliff and other impending federal, state and local government budget cuts. Our Grant Guidelines state that RMHF does not fund the direct replacement of discontinued government or other funding support. Grants awarded under this initiative would be seen as short-term “bridge funding” rather than ongoing replacement funding. Our initial thoughts are that awarded funds could be used to offset documented losses in revenue, shore up program services to clients, and possible technical assistance/business planning for the organization. We are curious if other foundations are currently making grants like this or are considering this type of funding. If your foundation currently has a program - would you be willing to share your thoughts, guidelines, procedures and due-diligence criteria.
