GEOList Summary: Best Practices in Orientating New Directors
Our Board, having concluded a complete governance review and update earlier this year, is about to expand our board from nine directors to an approved range of 9-13. Based on the very strong candidates we are considering, we may bring four new directors on at one time, which will be the first time (at least in recorded history) that we have brought more than one director on at a time. Based on this, we are thinking we need to implement a more robust process to orient new directors, assign board mentors, etc., to ensure a smooth transition and successful integration. Do your organizations have processes in place such as this? Do you know of other resources we should be accessing for this purpose?
