Grantmakers for Effective Organizations together with North Carolina Network of Grantmakers hosts a full day culture workshop designed for mid- to senior-level leaders who are at the early stages of centering equity within their organizational culture or those who are looking to shift their organizational culture to center equity to better support their values, mission and goals.
Healing ourselves and our communities is integral to equity work and requires us to think of healing as a community activity, not just one that happens on an individual level. This session explores the concept of community care, delving into its individual, organizational, and systemic dimensions, and taking into account self-care within the current sociopolitical landscape. Drawing on inspiriting examples, this session will explore models and frameworks that demonstrate the power of community care. It will illuminate how to effectively foster and resource a culture of care within the self, organizations and community. We'll discuss ways to institutionalize these practices, creating structures that prioritize the well-being of staff. Last, we'll explore how to build community care across organizational boundaries, fostering a network of support within the philanthropic sector.
At #GEO2024, Short Talks are engaging 20-minute keynote-style presentations that challenge current philanthropic culture and practice or inspire participants to think about the topic, their work and/or lives differently.
Hosted in partnership with Philanthropy California, GEO’s 2024 National Conference offered grantmakers and other practitioners the opportunity to explore equity-centered and community-driven grantmaking practices that support transformational change in order to create a just, connected and inclusive society where we can all thrive.
Join us virtually for the opening plenary of #GEO2024!
