#GEO2024 Closing Plenary (Virtual) - Centering Community Care as a Practice

Healing ourselves and our communities is integral to equity work and requires us to think of healing as a community activity, not just one that happens on an individual level. This session explores the concept of community care, delving into its individual, organizational, and systemic dimensions, and taking into account self-care within the current sociopolitical landscape. Drawing on inspiriting examples, this session will explore models and frameworks that demonstrate the power of community care. It will illuminate how to effectively foster and resource a culture of care within the self, organizations and community. We'll discuss ways to institutionalize these practices, creating structures that prioritize the well-being of staff. Last, we'll explore how to build community care across organizational boundaries, fostering a network of support within the philanthropic sector.
